hey everyone, im new to the toyota world. Bare with me, while i try to ponder the impossable. Maybe im crazy but, i have a 94 runner, jacked up, big tires and wheels new tranny and engine etc... with my luck a tree fell on my body and just tore it up. Now... i either gotta find another 4runner body to swap or maybe put a pickup body on. What would be the process and how hard? Is it even possable? would i need to look for an ext. cab pickup or std. cab pickup body? Any help would be great!

I think you'll have to go for another 4Runner body, the pickups are different when it comes to the frame and I don't know how much custom work would be involved to make it work (it would at least involve welding some new body mounts on/around)... It would be cool to see a coil-sprung pickup though. A standard cab pickup is about the same length as a 4Runner I think, ext. cab is longer though.

A phew of these have been done in Australia.....they look really neat!!

A single cab body, with an extra cab tub, matches the 4runner wheel base perfectly...Ends up being a SWB pickup.....The front 4 mounts for the cab line up, with custom mounts needed for the rest, but it wouldn't be too much work to make those. I'd like to it to mine someday, but with a late model cab and tub.

this sounds harder than i thought. maybe ill just look for a 4runner body.

Really not all that hard if you are okay with going flat-bed. The front two body mounts line up, the b-pillar body mounts will have to be moved to accommodate the rear body mounts for the pickup cab. Then throw a well-designed flat-bed at it and call it done.

Bones on PBB did it w/ his 86 4Runner. Threw an x-cab at it after he rolled the 4Runner. Not a hard swap at all.

Not sure of the actual damage... or your fab skills...

But why not chop the back of the body you have? I think the 4Runners look great that way. Basically remove the back windows and roof past the back doors. Kind of the SUT look.

i would but tree came crashing down on my A pillar. crushed it to the seat.
