Parts truck has no radiator. there is a flush T where heater thermostat control was & I see plain water there. should I try to pour some antifreeze in or go the other route and try to drain as much as I can? engine does run.

There's a drain plug on the engine block if you want to drain it. No idea how you would get coolant back in with no radiator though.

How does it run with no radiator? Seems like it would blow itself up. Or by running, do you mean it starts and then you immediately turn it off?

fired it up before I bought it to hear run.

Is the reason you want to do this is because you think there is straight water in the block?
If so, don't forget about the heater core(s).

If you remove the thermostat that will get a lot of the water out of the block.

yes, I could see straight water at the heater control valve.
is thermostat on the lower hose elbow?

It's just a link to a pic of the drain plug, but like others said taking out the thermostat from behind the lower radiator hose will work too (might need to take another hose off to allow air in).

Ok I'll take the thermostat out & also tend to the heater core. Thanks for y'alls help.
