Best clutch kit for the money and longevity

Well after replacing all the belts , pulley's and tensioners this weekend it sounds like my throw out bearing is on the way out. So I guess I may as well replace the whole set up , so I am looking for what is the best longest lasting and toughest clutch kit for reasonable money most people are using and where to buy it. Also should I replace the slave cylinder and flywheel and will a lighter flywheel help or hurt?? 1990 4runner v6 35x12.5x15 214,689miles for those who may need to know for better suggestions.

HD clutch set up and flywheel from Marlin, should do you. Wab Fab sells this stuff as well. Lighter flywheel will hurt your off-roading. If you have not replaced the slave and master cylinder in a while, I would.

Offroad a lightened flywheel will probably hurt you, but not to much, if your street driving and a little speedy SOB then a lightened flywheel would be nice. I'd call brian at wabfab, or Marlin himself. Can't be beat.

Me likes me centreforce stage 1

I got a centreforce clutch for my 92 v6 for only $20 more than 20% off for OEM, it's a lot better...granted, i got 136k out of my stock setup, but teh cetre force is nice cause the more RPM's, the more clamping force it provides. can't remembe my salesman's name, but i got it from summit racing. he hooked me up. had it shipped down to virginia tech cause i was on my way x country...mine was beginning to slip.
i figured in a Shumpert-esque fashion "well, heck, if she totally dies on I-70...i got $2000 in tools in the box behind my seat, i'll just do it on the side of hte raod.
but the guy @ summit next day shipped it and then paid for the drop shipped cetre force TOB shipping from their warehouse cause they didn't have it in stock. think it was like $220 for new pressure plate, TOB, and disc.
i want to say more than 2000 lb holding force, can't remember.
good luck,
Dave

I'm still breaking it in, but I just put a 1200lb Marlin setup in and it feels good so far. I just turned my flywheel and didn't open up the hydraulic system at all. Kit came with everything necessary and offered 300lbs more clamping force for less money than a stock setup from the dealer.

I would think the stock flywheel is just fine, if you're not pulling a trailer or doing a lot of rock crawling where you need more torque to get going. But, I guess it just depends on what you want. Same goes for the stock clutch. As long it's both are quality parts, like what Marlin, WabFab, Centerforce, etc., you can't get much better than that for the money. And by stock, I don't mean OEM Toyota necessarily...just equivalent.

Personally, I would absolutely love to get a heavy flywheel next time I have to replace my clutch. Upon suggestions from another member here on YT, it would help tremendously when pulling my tailer here in the hills where I live. It can be real difficult to get going on an incline with the 22RE. A V6 would obviously be very different. I already have Marlin's 1200lb HD, but even that doesn't always help. A couple of times, it's gotten a bit toasty smelling with 1k lbs+ behind me. TORQUE!!!!! MUST HAVE MORE!!!

Check out our clutches...we have whatever style floats your boat.

Personally, I have an OEM style clutch in mine...shifts nice and easy and I've never had a problem with it as most of time I just idle along in 4-L0 on my 40s.
