Yes - that one. The one I had such a PITA with the recall.

Driver side tie rod - no adjustment left, still not enough toe

I have a Budbuilt skid plate, so there's no way it got damaged by contact. Only things that make sense are it was bent when they put it on, or the tires got really wedged and the pressure bent it.

Any thoughts on how to straighten it or get Toyota to cover the replacement? Have to get the alignment better before Labor Day - moving to Colorado, and the truck wanders too much for that long a drive.

I would immagine that any dealer will clearly chalk this up to "off-road abuse" and will not do anything about it, but you can still try.

Only onther optin is to replace it again, all the nuts have been broken anyway, sucks man.

Actually, I was much smoother going up Sturgis this time.

Took the "toyota" line, not the "jeep" line.

yep the old ones were cast so they would have just cracked these new ones are made of steel i think so they bend. i went through one already and had to bitch to get it replaced

Here's the relay rod I've been using for the last 9 or 10 years. It used to be manufactured by Superlift and has been bullet proof so far. Note: the extra idler arm in the middle. http://community.webshots.com/photo/...42310107PxiQaV

Working for a Dealer and also bending my replaced rod I can tell you they will not replace it again under warranty. I took an old rod and beefed it up and so far it is holding very well.

Hey Phil any chance people could get hold of the old recalled rods, what do the dealers do with those?

The old rods are required to be scrapped. Toyota doesn't want old parts finding there way back to the Street. I had an old style rod in inventory and I used it to fab mine. I like the rod in the link above. I may look at that. Soryy I couldn't help. Now your local Toyota dealer may be willing to give you one to experiment with. It's worth a try.....
