Battery light

I have an '86 Toyota pickup (22R). The battery light came on so I did the basics, checked connections and had the alternator checked. Turns out the alternator was going so I replaced it. However, the battery light is still on. Connections are good and clean, belt is tight, wires are in good shape. Any suggestions?

I don't have a wiring diagram for your truck but I suspect the ALT fuse or fusible link is blown. Disconnect the battery and check for continuity between the alternator and the fuse box. If that's good, there may be a problem in one of the alternator wires. You will need a wiring diagram to identify the wires and their routing.

I got a defective alternator at napa. It lasted me from Roseburg Or. to Browns Camp were it died. I returned it to napa and this one has lasted me 2yrs so far.

Did you have the old alternator checked to see if it was bad?
