Backspacing for new wheels

Backspacing for new wheels
95 Yota 4x4..currently have 31x10.50 B.F. Muds on stock steel wheels which are 15x6..after suspension lift i had to use 1.25" wheel spacers so the wheels wouldnt rub..I believe the backspace on stock wheels is 4.75..If i get wheels with 3.75 backspace would that fit without the wheel spacers?? Backspace on wheels always gets my head spinning..and yes ive already searched but after reading the posts im more confused than before I read them....thanx....G
