axle question

Ive got an 1986 fourrunner which im looking to install a solid axle front. When i do this do i just need a front, or do i need both front & rear do to axle width differance? If there is a width diff, how much? Also im thinking of buying the duel creeper doubler kit from Trail Gear & a set of their rock sliders. Has anyone in here got this duel creeper kit? If so do you like it & did you get the 21 or 23 spline kit? Thanks.........

Marlin uses x4 times the bearings as trailgear or AA, unless you got the turbo, 21spline is for 22re. you'll need an extra top shift t-case as donor.

You can get wheel spacers to bring front to rear width.

just buy a kit. It will include everything you need minus the front axle.

I've only ever had experience with Marlin's Doublers. They are the bomb. hopefully someone else can help you out with TG's stuff.

i think you should look through the rules of the forum befor you post, but i'll give you some help. All the soild axles you are going to find are goingto be 3inches shorter that your rear, but you dont want to change out the rear axle cause wider is better and they also have bigger drum brakes, so your going to need to get 1.5 inch wheel spacers for the front end, I happen to put a newer style rearend out of a 92 in my truck for the bigger brakes and wider stance, still to this day I have not put wheel spacers in it and have had no problems. As for the dual cases, i cant help you there cause i dont have them but i'm sure someone can give you some better advice on those, I hold it to the MOON! and usually make it, lol! i think my V8 has something to do with that.

your 86 rear axle is 3 in. wider than the front solid axles so you will need 1.5 in. spacers on each side of your front axle.

i have tg sliders and they are great, i have slamed down on rock with them and pivoted around rocks with them and havent had a problem.

i also have the tg dual case adapter with the 23 spline output shaft. it works great. you should def. go with the 23 spline out put shaft though, with dual cases there is a lot more torque in your drivetrain and the 21 spline output shaft has a high failure rate, so it worth it to just pony up the extra hundred or so bucks and not have to worry about it breaking.

correction on the out put shaft, i meant to put 23 input shaft is what you need, the out put shaft is not as likely to fail.
