Automatic Transmission ( 1 Ton Truck ) Question

I have a 1989 Toyota motorhome siting on a 1 ton truck with a V6 and an automatic transmission. I am thinking about converting it to 4x4. I might have access to a 1993 4 runner with a V6 and an Auto ( parts car ). I was thinking about taking the trans and Tcase from the 93 4runner and putting it under my 89 motorhome.

Does anyone know if the automatic transmissions are the same, or at least capable of swapping between the 93 4runner and the 89 1 ton truck.

One thing I noticed was that my truck shifter is on the column while the 4 runner shifter is on the floor of the 4 runner.

One thing to note, I would like to keep the shifter on the column and just have the 4x4 shifter on the floor if possible.

Any advice would be welcomed.

It's still an A340, regardless of column/floor shift. You'll likely have some linkage to swap over onto the new transmission but that's about it.
