I have a 1990 4Runner with the V6 4WD. My shifter was super loose so I just took apart the shifter and replaced the little bushings. Now the shifter is tight and feels brand new. (I havent reinstalled it yet, the assembly is just sitting there) The only Problem I still have is that as i shift through the gears, it doesnt want to "click in" to reverse. It kind of just goes Park and then the next time it grabs it is neutral. I also does this in 2. Anybody know what I can replace to make it engage better? Sorry if this sounds confusing.
