auto to manual swap questions

ive been searching but i havent found any good info maybe im not looking in the right place.

my 86 4runner has a 22re and is auto. i would like to swap in a manual.
is there a write up out there for this swap or can anyone who has already proformed the swap let me know what to do for the electrical. will a new ecu be needed? what wiring must be done? etc.

i already know i will need the trans, t-case, crossmember, master / slave cyl, clutch and flywheel, pedals, shifter and interior parts, maybe a radiator. do the draveshafts need to be changed?

also are there any different models of manual trans and t-case which i should look for?

Well, im not too sure if the same goes for 22re auto>5sp swaps but..

On the v6 swaps you need to get the rear driveshaft from the manual truck. And the wiring consists of jumping two wires..

p.s a new radiator is not needed.

We just did a auto to manual swap on my 86 4Runner, its not that hard but you need to find a place to get the parts needed to do it, for me, i found everything i needed at pic n pull.

You can re-use your drive shafts and cross member. You'll also need the line that goes from the clutch master to the slave cylinder. When I did my swap I used a w56 tranny since it was the one Toyota put behind most 22re's (if not all).

You can use your current ECU. you'll just have to bypass the neutral safety switch. (I'll see if I can get a pic).
