i can only get one trail day out of my current idlers. i run the autozone one, so its a free replacement, but the guys at the store are starting to grow suspicious i think. i do plan on getting 4crawlers bronze bushings, but i think i may need more help than that. the only two idler braces i can find are the total chaos and the nwor. the total chaos is out of the question, its over $400 with tax and shipping. i don't know how much the nwor is as they are closed till next year. anyone running this one, or any brace similar and keeping the idler alive for a little longer? the one on the truck is rubbing the frame when i turn so i assume its bent, and i'm hoping bushings and a brace will prevent this. any input welcome, except for sas. i'd love to but don't have the funds for that project.

The total chaos idler isnt a brace, it replaces the whole stock idler and if you are beating on your truck hard enough to take out a idler every trip, it would be well worth the money and piece of mind.

While my truck is 2wd, I used to have a downey brace (thats very similar to the NWOR one) on my stock idler and it helped but I still got a little play from the bushings and bent the arm and brace after a few desert trips.

thanks for the replies gentlemen, i sent blazeland an email to get a quote on their kit. haven't seen them before. i'd love to have the tc arm, but damn thats a lot of money!

i also changed the idler out today and it was bent a good bit. i do keep a spare in the tool box should i ever bust one on the trail.

If your going through an idler arm per wheelin trip might be time to reduce some front lift. What size ball joint spacer are you running?
What kinda wheelin do you do?

I used to bend them but not that often.

it's not THAT much money if you think of the cost of your time to RR it every time you go out, plus the headache of trying to get your exchange. Definitely cheaper than the damage that could occur if your idler outright failed. I do recall seeing someone make their own BEEFY idler that looked pretty legit and as stout as the TC unit (want to say it was AxleIke when he still had IFS, but could be wrong)

I'm running a Nwor idler brace but I'm pretty sure it only works with the stock arm. I made bronze bushings for my stock arm and haven't bent or had to replace anything yet on it after 3 years and I wheel wheel it on rocks

i also gotta say if your beating the truck that hard Time for a SAS when you figure all the time you now spend it will be cheap in the long run!!

i have 1.5" bj spacers, haven't touched the torsion bars. not sure of the distance between the hub and fender, haven't measured. i would love to put a solid axle under it, but what little research i've done it looks expensive and not sure i have the fabrication skills to pull that off.
