Anyone mount lights on rear fin before?

I'd like to get some spotlights on the rear of my truck, and I was wondering if I could cut rectangular holes on the rear fin, and mount 2-3 lights on there, they would fit perfect without sticking out, anyone ever seen this before?

Trailor had a flat tire, ran short on time

i think scofco has done something similar, check out his profile and see what it says. iirc, his lights were inside and hinged for interior clearance.

I was thinking about hanging the lights inside, but didnt want them to get in the way. I was originally planning on getting a roof rack, mounting the spare tire, shovel, gas tank, and lights onto it until I read so much about decreased mileage. I don't care so much for the looks of the rear fin anyways, so I might as well drill away and see what it looks like, if it looks good, I'll post away on it. Glad to hear its not a common mod, I might have found a good way to contribute to yotatech after all!

I dont use the rear wiper anyways, I have a sticker on the rear window that could peel away from it.

Yes, the fin would definetely be strong enough, its surprisingly thick.

I have been toying with this idea also. The one problem I see with cutting the hole to mount them, is that, the fin is angled up so you really couldn't flush mount them. Never seen it done, but then again, I haven't seen it used to mount a license plate either. LOL

I had my license plate on the tire carrier, but I had to take the tire carrier off so zip-tied it to the wiper, haha.
