Anyone go shroudless?

I recently did the water pump/timing belt and the fan shroud was finally too broken to reuse. Does anyone go without it? I don't mind spending the $$ for a critical part, and I wasn't going to replace it here in the winter, but when summer rolls around, am I going to be sorry?

...don't run without it. the fan can't properly pull air across the radiator with out it, particularly at around-town speeds

Broke mine in an accident and ran without for a couple months. It ran too hot for my taste while wheeling in 80 degree+ weather. Was fine on the highway. They're like $15 on ebay for a new one.

You do know that it's not all Eskimos and Igloos? Some of us have the same weather as New York and Michigan and for you west coasters Washington. J/K!
I ran for almost 3 years without one!

The only reason Washington has the same weather as you, up there, is cuz you keep sending down here!!!!! You can keep the cold, the snow, and the majority of the rain!!!!!!!!! lol

Obviously you dont need the shroud if you have an electric fan.

Uhm... yes you do. You always need some sort of shroud to get maximum cooling, regaurdless of its crank driven or an electric fan.

I ran with a broken shroud for over a year, replaced it with a used stocker for like 15 bucks...

I'd replace it...

An electric fan has a shroud built into it... So you don't need another shroud...
