I know that on other cars a test pipe or high flow cat really helps open up the power range and adds power, my 93 4runner is getting sluggish on mountain passes with my 33's. Has anyone noticed a power gain with replacing the cat with one of these two options? Im tierd of getting passed by semi's

You would probably gain a little more power with a new high flow cat and a larger exhaust, or you could go all the way and buy a set of headers to get the most from it. That won`t turn a 3.slow into a power house, but it will help. Also another thing that will help you alot is to regear for the larger tires you have, that`s what`s killing your power the most right now.

yes it will make more power, mostly because your cat (if original) is getting pretty plugged up. but most people would be surprised that a high flow cat and muffler will often make close to, if not as much, power as a straight pipe. i would also recommend regearing.

Allready geared to 5.29, originally I tried to fit 35's but just wasn't coming together. So, just looking for any small power gain thats possible.

I was running no cat, and I had a new cat welded in, and I actually GAINED lower RPM torque

thats probably cuz theres small engines need some backpressure to make good power. my 3.slow has a highflow cat and magnaflow muffler with stock pipes and makes a good amount of power. its still slow but its not as sluggish as you would think. my 3.slows got a little bite to go with its bark lol.

besides the exhaust its stock with the exception of the swiss cheese airbox mod lol
