it'll look the same, but you'll be able to see a little bit more frame.
also, you'll need brackets to fix the front bumper and rear bumper

In my opinion, a body lift always looks like crap. why not go suspension?

but i agree with 1 gen crawler it normally looks dumb but has its advantages the only thing bout my dads truck is the guy who did the paint also remounted the bumpers and sidebars i believe a inch higher then normal so it appears almost as if the truck has no body lift.

I wouldnt go any higher than 2" body lift. thought about a leveling kit? should be cheap. good way to clear bigger tires in front.

Define your "need", why do you "need" to lift it?

EDIT: So you want about 2-3" of lift, just for looks? If so you can get balljoint spacers for the front and shackles or a block for the rear and you'll be set. Then it'll have form and function as opposed to the body lift and will only cost slightly more.

I got a 3" bl, and I dont care what anyone says... I love it! It makes things sooooo much easier to work on.... I can replace all the fuel lines without removing the tank, I can reach all the bolts on the bell housing with ease, I can get to all the bolts on the manifolds with ease...and on and on...

Heres a pic of my rig...

Body lifts have their place. there is nothing wrong with them. i build mine from 3" HDPE plastic rod and matching bolts. just built it myself. some of the nice things about doing a body lift.
*Can do a drive train lift
*Gives a nice place to mount the Rock sliders
*Makes easy to fit larger tires
*Cheap
*More room around engine and tranny (if you dont do a drive train lift)

I have a 2" body lift (along with a suspension lift) on my old truck and when it rolled it didnt shift a bit.

just pick up a bodylift and install it. picture your truck but 2 inches taller. doesnt really look any different, just taller

Do the BJ spacers and Shackles first. If you are still rockin 31's you might not even need to Body lift it. Thats a little cash to buy something else

besides looks if you want function and dont have a lot of money do what you want, everyone makes good points but still life aint always easy breeze people can buy suspension lifts and all that. I am planing on buying a 3in bl for my 80 just for the fact that i want a SLIGHTLY larger tire and want the tires clearence with out RUB. it only cost 140 so its in my price range. there is nothing wrong with bodly lifts other then the look of it. ( on my truck a 3in bodly make my truck look more natural then what it does now ) i mean UNLESS your only wanting a lift for looks then id say go for it. if you just want looks well .... that to me is a dumb reason to lift a truck. If you lift it use it. you know?? lol

If you can weld or have access to someone who can, then it will only cost you $140.
You need to cut and weld in extension into your shifters.
It makes the shifter feel a mile long when you first drive it after the lift. You get used to it quickly.
A body lift is easy to do.
I did my 3" body lift on my own with my tire jack and a couple blocks of wood. Pretty easy.
I made my gap guards out of rubber mating I found at home depot (rubber entrance mat that comes on the roll).
I like my body lift. The only problem is that it makes working in the engine bay a little harder. Everything else is a lot easier to reach now.
