Hi all,
Had a pair of Aisin hubs stolen off the truck, got new used ones, dont want it to happen again.
I have seen steel anti-theft covers on locking hubs (maybe in Mexico?). They looked like cylinders that cover the whole locking hub except the selector dial. That is, they have a narrow flange on the outside end that covers the 6 bolts of the selector and a wider flange on the inside that goes under the tire rim. So you have to remove the tire to remove it.
Cant find these on the net anywhere, but the ones I saw did not seem home-made. Anybody have any ideas?

Sombody actually stole your hubs? Crazy. Im sorry to hear that.

Me personally id "key" the nuts holding the hub unit on. And what I mean by that is they can't steal it if theres no such socket that fits it right. But you probably don't have access to a machine shop. So I guess you could throw a tack weld on the nut so a 12mm socket won't fit over it. You can always grind it back down later to remove the nut. Do this to a couple of the nuts after their torqed. Make sure their tight enough so they can't just use vise grips. Maybe some lock tight to uh..

Oh, and this sucks for the guy who has to pull the studs, but be sure to use lock tight on the stud also. Or it will just back the stud out of the housing.

One thing I have seen people do is take a push through style center cap, and cut a hole in it. That way, you can still access the hub, but make it extremely difficult to get tools in to remove the hub.

The trucks I've seen it most on are super duty fords, which use a snap ring to hold the lock out into the hub. All you need is a pair of plyers and ten seconds (if that) to get them off.

Also good thought. Wouldn't be very hard to modify a hub cap to suit your needs. And lots easier then custom fabing nuts.

Any idea where to find that kind of center cap? That sounds a lot like what I saw in Latin America, except they looked specially made. The fit would have to be just right

Special security bolts might be an option, like a locking lugnut. Prefer not to grind or weld, since I might need to change them.

The other option is get the meanest nastiest most angry dog, and chain him in/to the truck

I'd be lyin if I said I haven't wanted to take the hubs off an abandoned yota near me. They are pretty easy to snatch and at $100 all day long, I'm surprised I haven't heard of it more.

It might be pretty easy to find a torx or allen key bolt in that size.

Unless these people are pro`s at this and have every thing under the sun with them just different fastners would be simple.

Make the parts hard to steal they will just take the whole vehicle.
