Antenna help!

My antenna used to move back and forth freely. At highway speeds it would tilt back. Now, today I partially took off the front fender so I could see behind it. In doing so, I did not see how to remove the antenna. So, I tried tightening it and it was getting better then all of a sudden snapped off. Now I am left with a little tiny nub sticking out and I can't get it off to replace it. I put a nut on the nub and a bunch of JB weld. So, hopefully I can just turn the nut and the broken off antenna piece will come off. Do you guys have any suggestions? How should I get it off differently?
Thanks

well ive got an idea go to the local salvage yard and get a new mast maybe u can get the old on e out with a pair of vice grips but at the botom of the antena there should be a lil metal strap about where the fire wall starts sloping back u might have either a roted out strap or the bolt fell out

You take the antenna off from the exposed part on the top. twist, and it'll come off. But if you have an auto antenna, I dunno. If you are looking to completely replace your antenna(regular one), there is some funky looking stuff just above the fender line that you have to take off, and then the rest will just slide out the bottom.

Thanks...I got it out. The problem was is that I could of just bought a new antenna if I could have got the old piece out but I couldn't. I could have cut the line but the antenna piece still would have been in there. So, I cut the grommet and the plasticy piece off and slid it through. Will a late 80's antenna work?

The late 80's will probably work. If you can get it for less than $15. If not, you can always get an aftermarket one.

I was thinking...could I somehow mount a cb antenna low onto the firewall and have it stick straight up out of the antenna hole. If not...then I will get my $5 antenna.
