heres another better you tube video to show my steering linkage moving when i try and move one raised wheel to test if its bearings are bad

I think i found a total of 3 bushings blown out because i can fit my finger between them

please give me an idea what the bushings are called and what you guys thinks needs to be replaced and how hard will it be And are my wheel bearings fine?

ya i was looking at a u joint and im pretty sure thats shot because there is cracks on it

the u joint im talking about is the one directly in the middle of my car

ball joints are definitely bad time to sas it
looks like the steering knuckles or bushings or whatever you call them are bad too sorry i cant be of more help thats about all i know
edit: it looks like the wheel bearings are ok though

looks like worn out linkage. make sure everything is tight also.
also when your trying to check for wheel bearings shake the wheel form the top and bottom not from the sides.

Okay, looks like your inner tire rods should be replaced (part at 1:17 in the video)

The center link bushing needs replacing, im not sure if you CAN get a bushing for that. Make sure you find out if toyota has done the recall on that one.

Wheel bearings look okay, I can't really tell. Grabbing the wheel at 3 and 9 ocklock just will allow steering movement. Grab the wheel at 2 and 7 oclock. It should be a distinctive clunking sound.

Your idler arm looks like its on the way out aswell. Put both front wheel back on the ground, set up your camera to watch the idler arm , go and turn the wheel back and forth (half rotation).

I didn't see any movement in the ball joints. Pretty much repeat what jay said. Go/call a stealership and give them you VIN and see if the steering relay rod recall has been performed, then go from there.

to check ball joints jack it up the same way you have and put a pry bar under one wheel and lift up if theres movement then you know other then that not sure ill have to look at it with my own eyes sorry

Remember, you can rebuild the idler arm for under 10 bucks and an hour of your time.

You don't need a torque wrench for minor stuff like this, but its nice to have around...

Don't do the wheel bearings yourself, it takes some good mechanic knowlage to do it, I would get somone to help you out

The bigest problem is you Idler Arm.

It is supposed to keep the drag link (relay rod) from twisting around like that.

With the resolution of the video it is impossible to tell if there is anything else bad.

Oh, And those boots on the steering joints, those are just boots, not bushings. if they are not split open then they are not a problem.

My advise is to find someone who knows what they are looking at and have them take a look. In person.

idler arm looks fine IMO, but either the pitman or the draglink, maybe both, are SHOT! possibly the tie-rods as well...

I'd be scared to drive it over 15mph...

I would call up a Toyota dealership with the vin #; may be one covered in the recall and you can get it done for free!

anyone else notice it looks like the t-bars are cranked?
that maye have thrown everything out of wack and caused the whole problem to start off with...

that's just what I can see... it's pretty hard to tell from the video.
