I just acquired a tcase (forward shift) out of a 1989 toyota pickup and was wondering if it would bolt up to the stock tranny in place of my 84 tcase (forward shift)? I'm planning on doing it this way because I am going to purchase a top shift and tcase adapter in the next couple of weeks. Already having the forward shift (that will hopefully bolt up to my 84 tranny) would make the install alot easier since I can set them up out of the vehicle beforehand. This way down time wouldn't be that bad.

So the dual case setup would be the 84 tranny mated to the 89 forward shift tcase mated to the adapter which would be mated to a top shift tcase. Will it work???

Will the tcase shifter on my 84 tranny work on the 89? I know they made some changes in 89.
