Another rear window problem-- interior got soaked, switch or key don't work
Thanks in advance for your help. I searched threads and couldn't find the answer. Sorry if I missed a previous thread.
- rear window was working perfectly.
- interior got pretty wet in a rainstorm, only front cabin. Rear compartment did not get wet at all, tailgate did not get wet.
- middle console got a lot of rainwater in it.
- Everything is dry now.
- rear window switch does not work anymore. It worked perfectly before.
- key in tailgate does not make window go down. It worked perfectly before.
- rear wiper works fine.
- I pushed a toothpick into the circuit breaker #25, located right below the cruise control module up against firewall.
- Rear window is still not working with the interior switch or the key in tailgate.
What could be causing both the key/tailgate and console switch not to work after the console got wet?
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you.

Just what year might be a help!!
Wiper in the dock position ??
Time to break out your Meter and start to measure voltage
Circuit breaker filled with water and corroded
Safety switch failed
Rear window relay full of water ??
Motor just up and died it does happen.
With out some voltage readings it just a wild guess.

Thanks Wyoming9,
I will check voltage to switches and see if I get power to the switches.
I took apart and cleaned the rear window lock switch and cleaned up/down switch.
Tried to reset breaker multiple times.
Still neither tailgate switch or console switch work.
What I'm confused about is where is the relay? And I don't what would cause both tailgate and console switch not to work, presuming the motor is fine. It was perfect until a little rain got in the front seat. No water got in the back.

SUCCESS!
I checked voltage and switch was getting power.
I had not cleaned the switch poperly. I took the rocker off by removing the pin, cleaned the parts with emery cloth and now it works.
Tailgate key switch works again too.
Thanks much Wyoming9.

I have no idea what was going on in that switch to cancel the tailgate switch. That the key switch would not work is what had me stumped and thinking it had to be more than a corroded switch. Well now at least you and I know it can happen!
