Ok, my 90 4runner also has a bad relay in the little black box that goes back in behind one of the storage doors?, that operates my tailgate motor. I already replaced the tailgate motor ($130/Kragen), but it still doesn't work. So, my neighbor/mechanic said that one of the relays are bad? And they are not removable from this box. I called Toyota and they want $408.00 for this thing! Yeah Right!

I guess I need to keep calling around. I've been out to a couple of Pick-N-Pulls and there are no 4 Runners to be found!

The relays are removable, there's 4 or 5 of them on a circuit board. If you can tell which one is bad it's easy enough to replace. I remember reading a write up somewhere about someone who had done this. I'll have a search and see if I can find it.

Edit, didn't take too long. Roger Brown's site, 4crawler.com is always a good place to start for 4Runner problems. There's some good info in here about testing the window, and replacing relays.
