i cant think of the company that makes the ones with the stingers ive been looking at, but i want something alittle beefier then those

I think that design is a good start, but a little over complicated. Why have so many bars and so much going on?

I really like that warn bumper as well. I plan on building a similar bumper this summer. The problem I'm having is all the pics have the front of the bumper, I need to see how the winch is mounted from the backside...

Anyway, you're design looks good. I agree with deathcouger though. A few too many bars. Also, are you going for a look like the warn pic you linked too? because what you have drawn is quite a bit different. Are you planning tube? or plate work?

i was thinking square tubing for the bottom ones
the just circular for the rest

not quite like the warn, just i like the grill guard on the warn and it would be more like a stinger up top

Lol not everyone on here is a jerk!

Its a good first start. But like every first try, just needs a little refinement. Play with the design until you have it simple (lightweight) but functional and just the way you want it.

Lightweight Theres a good incentive to cut down on the complexity of it. I know we are all driving rigs off road here but I don't think anyone is going to argure about the difference weight makes in this situation.

Well I just finished up my bumper. I Thought it was gonna be too heavy, but surprisingly enough, it only weights in at something like 50-60 pounds (not sure, didn't weigh it, just know it's not too hard to lift with one hand) I built a plate bumper because 1: I like the beefier look better, and 2: I don't have a bender or money to buy one.

i have the warn on my truck. i love it! the ARB is just to boxy. if you would like i can probably take some pics of the way the winch mounts even though it is very simple. ill probably just draw you a picture in art tomorrow and put it up on the forum for you.


o and good reasons for the plate bumper! haha looks good!

Good on ya for trying to build one. Cut down the number of bars, and use a combo of plate & round tube to achieve a similar look to the Warn without the expense.

The winch mounts vertically on the Warn as opposed to on it's back like a TJM or ARB. I was looking into the Warn but it's HUGE it looks like it will really kill approach angle. I'll see if I can find some pics.

Scuba, as was mentioned, I would definitely remove some the tubing and plate in some of the gaps, but it's a good start.

I wish I knew how to use a CAD program. I'll my designs are in my head.
