I have been researching on my own for a while now in preperation for a future swap and ran into a detail I'm not sure I have pinned down yet. my 2wd automatic runner shares the same transmission up to 02 with the 3.4l runners meaning wiring harness and ecm adaptations only the trans I have can stay in place and will work correctly with that engine correct? My research says that the 4wd trans and t-case setup is the exception to this and requires swapping as well. but 2wd you are good to go. Just wanted to verify this before I decide wether or not I actually want to pursue this any farther. I am aware of oil pan/dipstick, exhaust crossover pipe ecm and wiring mods. any other info that I have missed feel free to educate me. thanks guys. Oh and having to add a scoop to the hood
while I'm editing anyway I'll also ask of those who have done this adapting things like throttle cable, fuel lines, radiator hose sizes etc... How much of a pain was that stuff to do and any advice?

What transmission do you have exactly? 3.4 to R150 works fine
3.4 to the 3.0 automatic tranny won't work right
I swapped the 3.4 and 2WD auto tranny into my 95 4Runner 2WD

I believe I have the A340E trans which would have been in 2wd runners 1989-2002. Info I have found acknowledges differences in A340's that cause problems but I haven't found that the A340E changed design from 89-02. Just the 4wd A340H (90-95) and the 4wd A340F (95-03) are actually different transmissions meaning a swap is necessary. I'm just trying to make sure I am comprehending the info I have found correctly.
