the upper bracket that bolts to the top of the alternator and allows the alt to swing is mounted to the head by 3 14mm bolts.
The lower braket to which the alternator is affixed and is used for keeping the tension up is bolted to the block just below the drivers side head.  Oddly enough I remember most all of the steps of me pulling the heads...hehe

good point my directions were for the 3vz-e (3.0L v6), the 22re (2.4L I4) will be different
