Question Alternator??

Has anyone tried these alternators? They are supposed to be a direct fit and 150 amps, 70 amps at idle, a whole lot better than the 60 amp max from a stock alternator!!

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWA:IT&ih=009

Thanks for your opinions..

I checked prices of alternators around here and can't find anything for under $200.

My voltmeter in the dash is showing low at idle but is fine when I am driving. Also when the headlights are on, heater blower, radio, blinkers on, you can hear the blower slowing down at idle and you can watch the volt meter blink with the blinkers. I am assuming one of the diodes is toasted in my alternator. I can get it rebuilt at the local alternator shop for around $50-60 but I want a little more juice for the lights I am planning to put in this spring.

Stock replacement...$240(returning old alternator for core)
CS130...$220(plus core)
CS144...$250 or so(plus core)
150 amp upgraded stock on ebay $150 plus shipping (no core charge)

Ebay alternator seems like a no-brainer, but I wondered if any of you have used these before.

I am in the Kincardine/Port Eglin area, about 1.5 hours from KW. The alternator guy around here says it can't be done, but I know it can I just don't know how. This guy can fix just about any alternator or starter, just don't ask him to do anything unusual, creative or different.

give them a call @: 1-519-894-1608 and ask them how long it might take. i had a spare alt that i was able to give them so i wasnt down while it was being built. there are a few write-ups and links posted on here that detail using a gm alt as well.

i had them rebuild mine late last year, i guess i got a bit too much stuff in it wheeling and it killed the bearings! stopped by after work one day (towed!) and they had it done while i waited. if they can give you a time frame, you could make a day trip down to have it installed. worth checking into.

check this one out

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...w=1&N=700+150+

in that link if you click on the application tab you'll see how many vehicles this alternator fits..What you can do is take one of those aplications and go to your local parts store and get one there..pick the one with the most power assesories..they should give you a choice of amperage..

or go to your local "hotrod" shop and they usually have chrome or powder coated 100 amp alt. for 100.00

Well, I talked with a buddy here with a 95 pickup and he wanted me to order an alternator for him too. I called the place listed on eBay. I ordered 2 - $145 alternators for $230 including shipping to Canada!!!! Good deal!! I will post back here once they come in and they get installed. They are supposed to give 70amps at idle and 150amps running above idle!! For $115 each I had to give them a try.

Thanks for your input..
