alternate o2 sensor placement for '88 22re

So my o2 sesnor bolts were frozen. I snapped one off trying to get it out. I was going to drop the exhaust and use a tourch to heat the flange up and try to back out what was left of the stud and the other one. the more I looked at it, the more it made sense to replace the CAT if I was going to drop the exhaust because which meant more $$. So while we were postiioning the extension for the ratchet, we noticed the plated over O2 sensor placement on the exhaust manifold. We figured what the hell, lets try that. so we yanked the bench seat out, pulled up the carpet and pulled the wires to where we could plug it in over the fender. Turned the engine on and whamo... no check engine light! So I re routed the wires, had to split them because the seatbelt harness runs along with it. there is a unused plug hole a little further up on the floor board, ran the wires through there and along the frame, put her back together and took her for a drive. She runs like new again. So I just kept the old sensor in place, cut the wire and theres not leaks. This is simple fix for a common problem. I guess some models had a pre cat with its own o2 sensor and that explains why there was that spot for it. Anyway, when I rebuild the motor this winter, I will address the exhaust at that time.
