altenator or belt?
so i just bought a subaru for my wife. i got it from "some guy" out in the sticks. its a 97 Subaru Outback. has 2000 miles on it since it was last inspected in december of last year.... sat all year because wife got sick and he didnt drive it.
while i was driving it home the lights would dim and return back to their normal brightness. i noticed that it did it when ever the RPM's would jump... so common sence is telling me that the belt for the altenator is probably bad from sitting for a year.. sure no problem there.. but. when i got to the house i pull in the yard shut the car of and go to restart it and nothing.. lights come on but i get the dead battery sound from the starter. so no big deal ill leave it and mess with it later. i went out in the morning to move it a little so i could get my truck out and it started up no problem...... i shut it off 5 times and it started everytime. maybe bad starter too?
