Almost there...CEL 24 gone...New CEL 25 with details...

Hey everyone...

Son just got in from college having driven all week at college and a couple of hours on the highway. CEL came on and we pulled a Code 25.

Son says that at highway speed, vehicle runs good up to 70 mph. Son said vehicle begins to shudder from 70-75 mph with RPM's between 3000 & 3100.

Haven't checked the O2 sensor yet but will this weekend.

Could a stuck injector cause this kind of problem?

Thanks for any ideas or direction,

DJ

Shudder? The motor does or the vehicle itself?

Hey THOOK,

It is definately the engine. He described it more like a miss at high speed (70-75). I will also say that it idles a little rough and I do mean a little. Just feels like something just not right.

I still have questions about one injector. When I put the "boot" into the intake, and then the injector into the boot, the injector fit really tight. I put a little silicone grease on the boot to get it to slide in the intake. Used new o-rings when putting the injectors into rails. Also blew out the rails.

I am assuming an injector can have limited function. I ohmed them all before installation and all ohmed +/- 1 ohm of each other. I would think if the solonoid was going out I would have a lower resistance.

Am somewhat of a bulldog when trying to fix something like this. OCD can be a curse lol.

Safety & blue skies,

DJ

Yes, replaced the VAFM last week and haven't received the Code 24. Didn't really seem to make any difference in the way the vehicle ran. Funny thing about this whole thing. Last week it was Code 24 only (no CEL 25). Now, with a new VAFM, CEL 25. I actually had hair 8 weeks ago when this whole HG replacement thing started lol.

Yeah, I can definitely relate!

Okay, so have you checked your timing since you replaced the VAFM?

Hey guys,

I haven't checked the timing yet but did clear the codes after replacing the VAFM. PUlled the EFI fuse and the neg cable just in case.

With the long weekend ahead I hope to check the timing and the injectors. If I had been thinking, I'd put the injector in question on the drivers side but noooo, it's on the passenger side lol.
