Aisin manual hub swap questions
I am installing my aisin locking hubs tomorrow and just want to be sure It goes smooth.
I have read other threads and done the searches and it seams that it is as simple as unbolting the add hubs and bolting on the manual hubs.
Any other recomendations??

check your wheels bearing while you're in there; it may not hurt to repack them while you've got the hubs out of the way
other than that, if you've got the hub mounting gaskets, then you're set

ADD is swap out and add new gaskets.
Auto is adding wheel bearing nuts to replace the auto junk.
PS In the future please name your threads relevant to the subject as I had to edit this one. There is a sticky about naming threads.

and yeah, I'm guilty of thread title's too; you know this all to well Wabbit
EDIT, never mind, you said "unbolting the add hubs", so I will assume you're coming from ADD

I got more than a part number, I've got a picture
they're the larger round ones on the right, Toyota part number 43422-60010, and you will need 2, one for each side
the other gaskets pictured are for the hub cover, and the O-ring for the dial

Yep, manual hub gaskets are all the same for the Aisins, every year every type axle on the Toyotas. None of the gasket should hang out.

damn, that's a deal there!
how did you manage that?
Also, one of the good things about the factory Aisins is that there's really nothing inside them that'll break from normal usage. Most of the problems people have with them accur when rebuilding them; people seem to either loose the little ball on the dial, or don't clock the cover right when they re-install it making the hubs not unlock.

I hate having to get out to lock mine in, but I like the reliablity and durability, not to mention the easy of maintanence of manuals

Not any more or less than manual hubs AFAIK.
I put manual hubs on my 4Runner because I don't want my crappy CV's turning when they don't need to be. It also gives me the option of 2lo if I want it for whatever strange reason.
If I had a locker in the front it would give me the option of unlocking one side only for certain situations that might require it.

AFAIK...
Auto hubs can be found on trucks from 1984-1988, and on 4Runners from 1984-1989.
ADD (automatic differential disconnect) was used in both trucks (1989-current) and 4Runners (1990-current).
