air / smog pump delete. keeping ac
maybe someone will find this helpfull. it was pretty easy and you can lose some clutter under the hood. only reasion i deleted this is b/c my pump was screaming, i actually thought the oil pump went out.. took the belts lose and well here i am.
so here are a few pictures, and a little walk threw.. the only one's whos should do/use this are those who understand what they are removeing and why. this is part of emmistions. that said... lets take a look.
fist look is the set up for 22r with ac. air pump at the bottem, when it's running you can watch the pully wabble.. kinda scary.. haha
the V shape idler pully is normal for a 22re. my 22r has a 3 groove belt. a short trip to the autoparts place and i picked up a idler pully, it's just a universal type. but summit does carry the pully needed to match the stock pullies (part # GTR-49030) { toyota 4cyl. }
i found a washer to fit inside the pully i picked up, just to "help" keep the bearings from getting dirty.

now here is where you need to know some spaceing from top bolt to top bolt (center to center) & bottem bolt to bottem bolt (center to center) of the ac bolt holes on the bracket that bolts to the engine. their are many different one's for some reasion or another.. this is for good measure to make sure you nail it the first go round.
mine was 3.5in from top to top and 3.0in from bottem to bottem (all from cen. to cen.)
the "new" bracket from a 22re will fit down where the brakcets of the old air pump came off. i like the ac being down out of the way. gives a little space to reach the oil filter from the top!!!!!!!!!!!

here is a mess of things i took off and got out of my way. over all it fits great, ac works perfect, i ran the crap out of it today just to make sure i did'nt screw anything up, and it runs great.
i dont notice any difference other then the air pump is'nt under the hood screaming bloody murder.. that makes me happy. it runs so quite now i can hear the faint lifter noise you get with these little 4 cyl's. over all i'm very happy with it. i went with a 3 groove 36in belt to replace the one that ran the air pump and ac.
anyway i posted this b/c i could'nt find it on here even tho i'm sure it's been done 100XX's

I want to do this to my truck. I just removed the smog pump. Does the pulley from summit just bolt right to the smog pump bracket, or did you need to do further modification? Thanks.
