AHHHHHHHH! 88 pickup 22re Coolant on the passanger floor...

BLAHH!!!!!!!!! coolant on the floor and it keeps over heating. SO the heater core is bad correct?

1. How big of a bitch is it to get to in my pickup?
2. Anyway i can stop the leak without replacing the core. Is it a bad line?

It is likely your heater core yes. You are going to need to get at it, behind the dash and see if its the core itself or a leaky line. I

it will be a pain in the ar$e but it will not be that bad you will have to remove the dash.

yeah basically. its not the easiest thing to do, but once the dash is off its not too hard. just remember where everything went or you'll be like me.. spending 20 bucks on a repair guide that should have been used in the first place just to not be able to read it and guess where stuff went. works ok, but wont be the same.

It COULD be just a line going to or from the heater core. So, check that first. But, if it is the core, take pictures while you're disassembling and keep track of all your fasteners. Easy buggers to lose.

I had this happen in 1995 only to find out that the heater hose clamp needed to be tightened a little. Pulled the whole damn dash out for nothing

So you have to unscrew a couple bolts and disconnect a couple wires to get to it, big deal. Don't be such a ˟˟˟˟˟

i just replaced the heater core on my '94 the other day. it was pretty straight forward. (though, my previous experience was with my supra, and there are a lot more wires behind that dash, heh)

all in all, not a bad job. if anyone needs pics, i took some between beer, food, and helping my friend replace the rotors, calipers, and pads on his '91.
