After market TPS
Just picked up an after market TPS and relized that the connection is not the same. any one else run into this. are after market tps' no good?

but if the connector is not the same, it's not the TPS for your truck, aftermarket or otherwise.
If you have the original TPS, the part number should be stamped on it. Use that to cross-reference. If after that you don't get the right one, change parts stores.

wow. i just went to autozones site looked up the tps for a 90 runner 3vze and they sold the same art i just got. looked it up for an 88 and the tps looks more like what came out of my truck.

Well the old tps is a toyota original. Also its a 1990 which is the first year of the second gen. mayybe they didnt switch over till the next year. anyway im going to get the 88 version cant see why it wouldnt work.

ugh. what a pain. just got another tps and the moving mechanism inside it is oriented differently from the original meaning it would be imposible to moint the thing and adjust it.

There are 2 different styles. Pre 89 and post 89 with some mixing in 89 (this is for 22re) V6 might have made the same changes. Since your truck is a 90 you are close to the changeover.

yup thats what happened. and no one in town has one. gotta order it from PB and wait a few days. its BWD EC3147. what a pain. not only are there different connection types but as i said the last one i got had the movine part oriented so that the only way to adjust it would have been to mount it with the connection facing up which wouldnt work on my throttle body. now I gotta wait till wednesday to get it. at least itll be warmer.
