After a 2 month wait my DT headers finally came in, any words of wisdom?
Ive been waiting for over 2 months for my DT headers to show up, nice huh. Anyway they are here and look great! I may attempt the install this weekend if my new O2 sensor comes in. Any words of wisdom or tips? One good thing is that I had head gaskets done last year so all of the bolts and nuts on the stock system should come right back out!

Some things:
Starter blanket
Stick on heat shield on the passenger side firewall, down low.
Heat shield sleeve on the front 3 feet or so of the e-brake cable.
Cut the crossover out if you have too, it is a pain.

And, you might consider a 1" body lift to get more clearance at the passenger side firewall and fuel lines. I end up putting in a 3/4" BL from 4Crawler. I have an ARB Bull Bar and the top bar blocks the headlights if you go anything past 1" of BL.
Have fun!!
Edit: One other thing, how old is your starter? It is a bear to get it out with the headers in there. I would pull the starter and replace the contacts while I was in there. If you don't, you just know the contacts will wear out about 5k miles after you put it back on the road.

Band Clamps??
Thanks for all the info! My starter is a few years old and I ordered a cover for it from Summit along with one for my firewall on the pass side and enough to wrap any other lines and all. Has anyone used slip joint band clamps instead of U clamps when installing headers? I think they would seal better but I could be wrong...
