Question adjustable camshaft gears(3vze) worth it or not?

1.)i decked the block/heads i'm doing headers and exhaust for now, it should be running by christmas day. when the springtime rolls around i plan on getting performance cams, valves, a larger TB and i already have an intake canister/MAS from a 92' supra. So that's twice i'll have to time it (and i'm sure i'll have to do it again)and i want it to be perfect. LCE said if i send them my sprockets(which i now have two pairs of so there won't be any added downtime) they will make them adjustable for about $100 dollars. Worth it or Not?

2.)can anyone explain how they advanced/retarded their timing and how it helped?

thanks,Drew
