ADD to Manual Swap....not hubs...

Last year when I swapped all of my offroad goodies to my 92 from my 95 I wanted to keep the non-ADD axle in the truck w/out have to pay to have new gears setup. So I just swapped the long side sxle tube, but had to have some bearings pressed in and out....

Turns out that the non-ADD axle doesnt have "carrier" bearings where the shafts leave the 3rd member. The ADD axle did. So the shaft, short side only, is being supported by the gear carrier. That seemed weird to me, but its how it was stock.

Why is that? anyone know?

Also I probally called a few things by their wrong name, if you need clarifaction I can try....at least in my mind I know what I am talking about.

What exactally did you have to do?
I am swapping a 4.30 7.5" ADD into my 1987 (non-ADD). What should I expect to have to do to reap the most benefit?
