ac vsv troubles on a 1991 pickup
Ok I just had all the r12 drained and added r134a because it was low on r12 and I wanted to change it over. i put 2 cans in and it worked great but friend said it takes 3 so we did and 3 where too many so we drained out some and found the sweet spot again. NOW here is my new problem, I was adjusting the VSV valve and it was working when you would unplug it and plug it back up. Pligged up the throttle would increase when you turned ac on and if you unplugged it with ac on the throttle would decrease down. Well needless to say i was doing this when we put 3 cans in and it was fluctuating on and off from having to much freon. On the plug side I messed up and took a wire and touched the black/red wire to the blue wire on the plug and I think it messed it up because now the VSV wont work when I plug it in. So I checked the voltage and with key off, I get no power to either wire but with key on/ ac off, I get 12 volts to the blue wire and nothing to the black/red wire but when I turn on the ac I get 12 volts to the blue wire and about 7 volts to the black/red wire but it still wont work when i plug it in. My father in law has a 92 toyota pickup and I checked his voltage at plug and his is same as mine on the bkue wire but on his black/red wire, it gets NO voltage no matter if key or ac is on or off and his works when you plug it in because you can hear it click when you plug it in. So did I melt the ground wire(black/red) when i touched it to the blue wire? I can leave the blue wire plugged into the vsv and ground the other terminal on the plug to the ground on the batery and the switch will click and ac will idle up with ac on but stays idled up with ac off so can't go that route. I have a haynesmanual and have tried to follow th black/red wire under the dash which I think it goes to the ac amplifier but I cant find the black/red wire under the dash. So what do you guys think? Black/red wire burnt and if so how do I find other end of it so I can route a new wire? Sorry for long thread but didn't want to leave any info out.
