AC Cut relay

I am trying to get my ac working after my 3.4 swap. Based on the instructions from ORS I am supposed to remove the AC cut relay, but I can not find it anywhere. I can only see the ac fuse/ heater relay near center of dash or the circuit opening relay on the passenger side.

This is in an 1989 4runner that originally came with the 3.0 and auto, but has since been swapped to a manual. I have the FSM for both a 88 and 89 and neither list an ac cut off relay. In my searching online I see it in the FSM of the second gen 4runners, but I have not found any information on the 1st gen 4runners.

So do the 1st gen 4runners originally equipped with the 3.0 and an auto have an AC cut relay? And if so where is it located.
Thanks.

Red face

You have the FSM but not the Electrical wiring Diagrams

It seems the AC cut off relay was only used on the 22rec engines perhaps they figured the 3.0 did not need to have the AC cut off.

I hope that helps.

This is where swaps run into problems does one use the complete AC system from the original engine or the complete system from the 3.4

Now mine look a like a mess of the 2 systems talk about being frustrated trying to trouble shoot.

Thank you for the reply wyoming9. I have the ewd and didn't see the relay in there so that is what made me believe the 1st gen 4runners did not actually have the relay.
So thank you for clearing that up for me. I am using the 3.4 compressor with the 3.0 top plate and am taking it in today to have the system evacuated and charged, so hopefully it works.

In case you haven't seen it, there's some really good A/C info in this thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160...4-swap-251179/

I followed it and my A/C blows nice and cold with my swap, I just don't have the idle up working, so if I'm stopped and idling for a while, I'll rest my foot on the gas and rev it up from the 500-600 rpm idle to about 1,000 rpm to help it cool off better.
