AC Compressor Temperature

How hot does a normal 22re AC compressor get? When i recharged the system yesterday the compressor was REALLY hot to the touch, i could not keep my hand on it. Also both lines were hot from it. I do not think this is good, but i do not know what the temp should be on the compressor when it is in use.

Define "hot"

Like things around it are melting?

AC compressors are giant pumps. Compressing are causes friction. Friction causes heat. Heat......it hot lol.

Does it blow cold? If no...then you have a problem.

It is blowing colder than it did. It is hot that i cannot keep my hand on it at all. Nothing was melting. I have to try it again today and see how it is cooling.
