A340H Pan Gasket question ?
I purchased shift solenoids & a filter kit from Makco a few days back. A Corked gasket came with the Filter kit, would there be a downside to running the corked gasket or should I just run with Permatex "The Right Stuff". I've read a number of threads where RTV was the only thing used, I figured I'd ask before I take this up to the shop and swap out my solenoids and filter.

I personally use gaskets in all my automatic transmissions when servicing them. NAPA sells a rubber gasket for around $4. I have never had a gasket leak. I hate removing all the old silicon from the mating surfaces when using RTV sealants. The gasket solves the problem making future transmission servicing much easier.

another vote for rtv here. Every time I use the cork gaskets, I get about 2-5k miles and it starts leaking... the rubber gaskets from napa are ok, but its just easier to use the rtv... no lining up the holes for bolts, clean up is as easy as finding a razor blade. Even when I use a rubber gasket(per customer request) I use a thin layer of rtv to hold the gasket in place once its lined up.....
