Thumbs up 95 4runner exhaust

I have a 95 4runner that im puttin together for my daughter. Engine is out and gettin replaced by rebuilt long block. I have read ALOT of bad stuff about the exhaust cross over pipe. Is it usually a good idea to put headers on or is there a way to use the cross over pipe without creating so much heat for the rear cylinders
What are the opinions of the forum? Thanks a bunch.

Yeah, headers are good. Complement them with a new cat-back exhaust with a Magnaflow, Borla or Flowmaster muffler to further increase flow if you're going to.

But, it's not bad enough that you have to remove it. 285k miles and no issues here with it on.

I'd do it if I weren't in California, not smog legal here.
