Exclamation 94 toyota truck steering wheel

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on this awesome forum and I'm hoping you all can help.

Here's a pic of my steering wheel. None of the buttons work. I need to find out what their function is and how to fix them please; although I DO know the far left one is "cruise" because the word CRUISE lights up on the dash panel, but nothing happens when I push it.

Thanks so much for your help in advance!

Here's how it went when I tried it out.
  1. HIT THE CRUISE CONTROL "ON" BUTTON, DASH LIGHT "CRUISE" CAME ON
  2. HIT THE SET/DECEL BUTTON, LET OFF THE GAS, VEHICLE DOES NOT MAINTAIN SPEED
  3. HIT THE ACCEL/RESUME BUTTON, TRUCK ACTS LIKE IT TRIES TO ACCEL VERY BRIEFLY, THEN JUST SLOWS DOWN

All the fuses are good. Does cruise control use a relay instead? It's a '94 Helix 4x4 with 22re.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR VALUED REPLIES AND TAKING THE TIME TO TRY AND HELP.

Would love a clean looking steering wheel like that.

Mine looks the same but my truck had been parked for a few years due to the PO. The top part of the wheel turned to a whitish yellow color

Wouldnt the brake pedal have to be pushed for that to happen?

Wheres the relay for cruise?

no, brake pedal wouldnt have to b touched, but, if u r low on brake fluid, or ebrakes is on, cc wont work, heck, even if the light is on for any reason, cc still wont work...

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the cc in these rigs is vacuum controlled, so any vacuum leaks would hinder proper operation.

OK. I am grateful for all of the info. Do you happen to know where the CC relay is?

This sure sounds like a vacuum leak in the actuator. But nothing beats systematic diagnosis:

x2 on vacuum leak in the actuator. Open it up and check the diaphragm...it's not uncommon for them to crack.
