94 pickup issue quickie
Just bought my first truck a 94 toyota pickup 22re shortbed.
Came with a plow 4x4 158k miles (engine swap but similar mileage). and a bit of rust (upstate ny) 1500$ been looking for a toyota for a couple years and this seemed like a good deal. again upstate ny is hard to find anything 90s without rust
My issue is after driving my dads 92 toyota 22re same style truck for a few years then getting into this one it feels as though there is some drag when coasting.
4th gear feels like 3rd .. 3rd like 2nd and so fourth. And coasting in neutral just feels like there is something slowing me down a bit. At first i thought maybe the gearing was different in the two trucks. (doing a gas mileage check now).
I don't hear any noticeable sound of breaks dragging. The tires are a little meaty for the pavement so i think they are making a slight humm while driving. Not 100% but the hum appears to be on both sides. Would the tires be creating this much drag? Also there is a wear issue on the tires. Drivers wearing to the inside. passenger to the outside. Gonna rotate the tires. and maybe get them aligned.
I'm gonna jack the truck up tomorrow and give the tires a spin to see how many rotations i get. Check the play in the tires maybe for bearing issue? This is my first truck so it will be what i learn mechanically off of.
Thanks again for the support. And im already in love with this truck.
