'94 P/U Stiff Gas peddle - Clogged cat?
Hey. I just had a flowmaster muffler installed on my '94 4x4, 6 cyl pickup and the person who installed it said that my gas peddle seemed really stuff (I have always kind of thought this but I am the only one that drives the truck and its my first toyota so i was unsure), but I was wondering if this is normal or what could cause this, maybe a clogged cat?. (It also seems like I have a lack of power. Also the new muffler is not at loud as he and I had expected and he thinks that cat might be clogged so which is making the exhaust not as loud. So any help would be greatly appricated. Is it even possible for the cat to be clogged or would that even effect either of my two problems? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have an auto tranny, your kickdown cable is probably damaged or too tight. It works directly against the throttle cable. A problem with the kickdown cable will certainly cause a stiff gas pedal.

Rizzle.... You went to a muffler place and they couldnt tell you if you have a clogged cat or not? Wow, I would be kinda angry. I mean you go there and the least they could've done was look at it while it was all apart. Or at least shake it a bit just to see if it was f'd up. If you do have a clogged cat, throw on a new high flow cat. I've got one from Walker Racing and with the oversized exhaust (w/ flowies) It purrs (growls) along nicley. But yeah, what ur saying does in fact sound like it, but just like Chickenlover said, take a look at the kickdown cable. Mine was broken at one point and the symptom for me was when I was cruisin along and I wanted to giv'r, the engine wouldnt shift up. I'd have to play with the skinny pedal a bit and then it would finally kickdown. Let us know what happens.
