94 P/U Clutch Engagement
Hello all, pretty new to the whole toyota thing, even though my first car was a corolla (still running strong, no worries). Just picked up a 94 P/U 4x4 with a 22RE mated to a 5-speed. When I first got it, it had its quirks, which it still does. Leaky gas tank-fixed. CEL- put in new O2, no check engine light anymore. Now my clutch is acting up. When I first got it, it disengaged closer to the floor, now it disengages closer/almost at the top of the travel. Today, it really slipped for the first time under semi-decent acceleration. I do believe I have a leak at the rear main seal, which I'm sure has something to do with it. I don't think I could've killed my clutch that quick, and it only has about 144k on the odometer. It doesn't feel like its slipping when I downshift, maybe has something to do with fuel delivery since I just changed tanks, and maybe its bucking because of lack of fuel pressure? Any input would be great, I love my yota, and even a clutch replacement doesn't discourage me from keeping it.

I doubt it was my clutch skills, I never ride on my clutches, I found out what riding the clutch and overheating pressure plates can do on my other toy (1G DSM). But I'll bleed the system and see how that works out. I'll replace the rear main seal when I get to school along with the clutch.

It was bucking because the clutch was catching grip between the flywheel and PP, then releasing it right after, so there was some catch that made me go forward, then some release that caused the slipping. Definitely the clutch, though, as it blew out on me this morning going up a hill. Unfortunately, my whole town is all hills...oh well. Marlin Crawler, here I come!
