94 locking hubs HELP!

i recenlty purchased a 4x4 94 toytoa single cab pickup with manual locking hubs. The last time the previous owner used the 4x4 he locked the hubs and Quickly turned on the 4x4 without letting the hubs engage. I lifted the truck completly off the ground and noticed the only the right wheel spins. The left wheel doesn't spin but the part before that does. Thiers also a light clanking sound when the 4x4 is on. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG ? HOW MUCH IT MIGHT COST ? ANYTHING ????

Sounds like the hubs aren't completely disengaging and the clutch/free wheeling hub body splines are hitting. You should probably take them off, degrease, regrease, inspect for broken parts and put them back on. Assuming no parts are broken, the gaskets are 1 between the hub body and spindle, 1 star gasket between hub body and dial body, and 1 ring to keep grease in and particles out between the dial and free wheeling hub cover.

Here's a diagram: http://www.yankeetoys.org/Documents/AisinHubs.pdf

My best guess is that the tension spring between the clutch and follower pawl have come apart (how mine were when I purchased them). It's pretty simple to reseat, the spring just twists back on/into the clutch piece. If that is what's wrong, you should only be in the hole 20 bucks (and these are stealership prices).

Also, what the PO says sounds kinda fishy, seeing as manual hubs lock in right when you turn the dial (its all mechanical functioning).

Hmmm....locking the manual hubs engages the hubs immediately. Don't need to wait. Put in 4WD and go. Sounds like a hub, CV, or axleshaft blew. Also, what do you mean by "the part before that"? The driveshaft? The axle? On which side of the differential? Is that brake dragging and causing the diff to only spin one tire?

Yeah, if you pay shipping, I'll give you my ADD hubs, though you might lose some mpgs.

You'll gain no difference in gas milage using manual hubs vs ADD.

Well, first off, if one axle wasnt engadged, you wouldnt get any wheel to spin. This is an open front differential and if one was locked, all the power would run to the axle not locked and you'd get neither wheel to spin. As for the rattle in 4WD, not sure. He may not have the hubs timed if he dissasembled the hub units themselves? Where does this clanking sound come from?

And dont trade the hubs for "ADD" hubs. In fact, they arent even hubs, just "drive plates" as Toyota calls them and you can get the same affect by just leaving your axles locked in all the time. Rip off for you, a bargain for anyone who makes the trade to you.
