94 4runner auto trans doesnt like to go in gear

94 4runner auto trans doesnt like to go in gear
So just bought a 94 4Runner and the trans started acting up, when i put it in drive it wont move but if i stomp on the gas a few times it will jump in gear and drive and shift fine. Just the intial getting going doesnt like to shift. What might it be trans toast or something simple?
