I been a member for years 1st post been a week fro hell if the answer to this is already posted I sorry my brain won't let me find ok.
I had a water leak at timing no.2 idler pulley fsm said to release tension on belt turn the LH camshaft pulley I did it felt like it slipped a tad but it did loosen belt enough for me to remove and fix leak belt I had pinched to each cam so it could not move. Put all back together and truck won't even kinda start the belt has no marks on it I'm thinking the slip I felt when first turned LH cam some how messed up somthing so 2questions 1st. Any ideas what my tired butt did.
2nd. Assuming it is a timing belt issue such as belt slipped making cams, Distributer and crank shaft not all on same page they should be and belt has no marks what do I do.? I feel I know the answer to this but I can't make it come to me please excuse my ignorance and I really appreciate your time

At this point, you might as well get a new belt. What you should have done was to place marks on the belt, after matching the timing marks up. Kinda hard to get the timing right without those marks.

Do all new belts have marks pre-made.? And just a heads up I figure out why it slipped the fsm. At personal.utalsa.edu page eg2-36 has a error it shows the LH cam being on the RH cam side so I turned the RH cam following the picture I just caught it thanks for your reply

Every belt I've bought has the marks on it, including the $20 one I just got from Auto zone.

Btw, had a leak at the exact same spot. I feel your pain.

Forget the marks (sorry, Cyberman). They are only a convenience, and a modest one at that.

All you care is that the crank is at TDC and each cam has the marks matched when the belt tightens up. If they're off, they have to be at least one whole tooth off, so it is very easy to tell.

The first thing you'll do once you tighten up the belt is turn the crank two revolutions to make sure everything is still lined up. The marks on the belt won't be anywhere near the marks on the sprockets then. (Even if you turn the crank to bring the marks all the way around, they STILL won't line up where they started from -- this is by design.)

Note that distributor (ignition) timing is set separately, after you get the belt on (the belt sets cam timing). Even if you carefully follow the FSM it is not too hard to get the distributor off one tooth. Easy to tell; you'll have about 27º of timing error.
