'93 Pickup starting problems

Hey guys, I have a 1993 Pickup, 22RE with a brand new starter and battery. Okay, well let me clarify, They were new 5 months ago when I installed them right before I left for BCT/AIT at Ft. Knox.

The truck sat at home unused, but was regularly started and rolled forward and back to keep the brakes from locking up. It was used by my uncle while I was away to retrieve a load of lumber, but other than that, sat in the driveway.

I recently graduated my OSUT and came back and started the truck up for a drive. It took a little trying for the engine to catch; the starter and battery doing just fine. I know its really cold out (Rhode Island in December...) and the truck has been relatively idle, but it always started up perfectly before.

I put a bottle of Dri-gas in the tank and it hasnt had a noticeable difference. Either I hold the key over and keep the starter turning for an agonizingly long time before it catches, or I have to take the time to pump the gas pedal two or three times and have it catch sooner....still after an unacceptably long time.

I'm at Ft. Campbell now and didnt bring the truck with me but intend to have it shipped soon. how can I remedy this problem?

(I may not be able to get to a computer regularly because of the hectic in-processing schedule around New Year's but any help will be most appreciated.)

Thanks guys.

I second the fuel filter. If its clogged then you will have hesitation and/or you will not be able to start it. Pick up one from a dealership. Don't waste your money on the cheap autozone ones unless you wanna replace it in a year or sooner
