My buddy has 93 pickup with a 4 cylinder engine 5spd 4wd and has replaced the head gasket and still having coolant mix with the oil. Is there a chance the head could be cracked or something other than the head gasket maybe a cracked block but i highly doubt that. Any help would be great

When the head gasket was replaced, did he have a machine shop do a valve job (which most times includes a pressure test)?

You could try a leak-down test, which might give you an idea which cylinder is leaking coolant into the oil. And yes, a cracked block could produce that symptom.

Did you check to see if the timing chain wore a groove in the timing cover causing a leak? That will give you milkshake.

only way your gonna mix coolant and oil is driver side of the timing cover. as the previous two said.

He should have noticed the driver side timing guide was missing when he did the HG.

head gasket will give you coolant in your oil. He should have had the head pressure checked while it was off. Did he run a tap in to the head bolt holes and make sure they were clean? Did he put a light coat of oil on the head bolts and check to see if they would thread all the way to bottom out in the holes? My truck needed new head bolts because I could not even get a die to chase the threads. This kept the head from being torgued down properly ( PO had tried the head gasket. )Also they tell me the hole clean through the timing cover is not alway easily seen just looking at it. Good luck.

I'm not sure he checked the timing chain cover and I dont believe he had it machined or pressure tested. I'm gonna go up this weekend and do a compression test etc. and I will check the timing cover. Thanks for the input
