'93 3L V6 4runner warm idle surge

Hi guys, new member here.
I have been searching the web none stop all week and so far have found nothing to help me fix my truck.

i have a 1993 3L V6 Manual 4runner

The problem started 2 weeks ago, i went to drive the truck but it wouldnt start. I checked for a spark and i had one, checked for fuel and there was nothing.
I hotwired the fuel pump to get me to the next town (I am in outback Australia so parts and help are hard to come by!) so i got to the next town and went to work. I took out the fuel pump relay and ripped it apart. It was pretty rusty inside so i cleaned it up with some rubbing alcohol, sealed it all up and put it back in. Voila, the truck worked again!

BUT my problem still continues........
When i had the fuel pump hotwired the truck developed a strange idle surge and still has it now i have the fuel pump relay back in.
It would start fine from cold and idle at around 1100 untill warm, when warm it would idle fine at around 900. My problems start when i begin to drive it, it still accelerates and drives fine, no hesitation or lack of power. But as soon as i depress the clutch to come to a stop the revs drop off and bounce between 100-1000 and often stalls. If i manage to bring the truck to a stop without it stalling it idles at around 200.

Today i swaped out my fuel filter for a new one and pressure tested the fuel lines, and all is well. At idle i get around 38psi and around 40-50 while driving.

I have a crack in my exhaust before the 02 sensor and i know this will cause it to run rich and can cause an idle surge, but ive had this crack for months and the engine has only started to surge since the fuel pump issue.

Please help me guys as this is driving me crazy!!!

I have just run a little test on the EGR, not a definitive test at all but its something.
With the engine idling i removed the vacuum hose from the top of the EGR and sucked on it to create vacuum, this caused the engine to splutter and die. To me this means the EGR is working correctly??
What do you think?
